Formula - a list of ingredients for or parts of something.
Faith - complete trust or confidence in someone or something.
Just like a list of ingredients are needed in order to make something such as a food of some sort or even make something you make or build; Faith has a list of ingredients that are needed in us in order for it to become alive within us.
Each ingredient must be applied for faith to be present in us. If one is missing then faith has no effect and is not in operation in our lives, despite what we might think. Once all of the ingredients are applied faith is in operation.
Faith is the end product needed in order to be pleasing to our Heavenly Father
Hebrews 11:6, But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
We must truly believe and seek the Lord out daily. This can only be done by faith.
The following is the list of ingredients to obtain unto faith
1.The Holy Ghost
The Holy Spirit is a must if we are to have faith in our creator. This is true because faith is a fruit of the Spirit. Read it in Galatians 5:22-23, But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, Meekness, temperance: against such there is no law.
Romans 15:13, Now the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost.
2. Hearing the Word. (Jesus)
John 1:1-4, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made. In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
John 1:14, And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
Once we are filled with the Holy Spirit, God begins to talk with us. We will hear his voice. Read it in Romans 10:17, So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.
To have this faith we need to be hearing what the word of God is saying to us. This is because when we hear the word of the Lord speaking to us, he is revealing to us and showing us things. He does things for us, brings healing and answers our questions, gives us knowledge on different things. If the Lord is not speaking to you, then you do not have faith.
John 10:25-27, Jesus answered them, I told you, and ye believed not: the works that I do in my Father's name, they bear witness of me. But ye believe not, because ye are not of my sheep, as I said unto you. My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:
John 5:24-25, Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life. Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
Those who hear the word of the Lord and believes on the Father will have everlasting life. They will not be condemned but they will go from being spiritually dead to alive in Christ. The time is now when the spiritually dead could hear his voice and have a chance for life.
3. Obedience (Works of Faith)
When we are obedient to the faith, we are doing exactly what the Holy Spirit is instructing us to do. We are working out our faith.
James 1:22, But be ye doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving your own selves.
We need to be a doer of the word. How do we do this. We listen and do whatever the word instructs us to do. If the Lord shows you to go and pray for someone then you do it. If he tells you something to say to that person, then you do it. You doing what is instructed of you is you being a worker of faith.
Some do not agree when it comes to works because they stated the scripture verse that states that its not by works. What the Apostle was talking about was works of the law.
Ex., If I just be good enough then I can make it, or I’m a good person and I do not break any laws, I’m nice and help everyone. This is all work of the Law, and it has nothing to do with faith at all.
Galatians 2:16, Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.
Man is only justified or righteous by the faith of Jesus Christ. Jesus worked out his faith. He healed the sick, raised the dead, taught individuals, cast out demons. He did many mighty wonderful works.
We are to work out our faith as well.
James 2:14-26, What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him? If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food, And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit? Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone. Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works. Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead? Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar? Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect? And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God. Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only. Likewise also was not Rahab the harlot justified by works, when she had received the messengers, and had sent them out another way? For as the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without works is dead also.
Faith is not alive in us if we are not working it out. We must do the work that God has given us to do. Working our faith is important because it shows others the power of God and what he could do in their lives.
1 Corinthians 2:1-5, And I, brethren, when I came to you, came not with excellency of speech or of wisdom, declaring unto you the testimony of God. For I determined not to know any thing among you, save Jesus Christ, and him crucified. And I was with you in weakness, and in fear, and in much trembling. And my speech and my preaching was not with enticing words of man's wisdom, but in demonstration of the Spirit and of power: That your faith should not stand in the wisdom of men, but in the power of God.
4. Standing Firm
When we stand firm in something we refuse to change a decision or a position. We must stand firm and not be moved.
Jeremiah 17:7-8, Blessed is the man that trusteth in the LORD, and whose hope the LORD is. For he shall be as a tree planted by the waters, and that spreadeth out her roots by the river, and shall not see when heat cometh, but her leaf shall be green; and shall not be careful in the year of drought, neither shall cease from yielding fruit.
We must stand firm in our faith by being like a tree that is planted by the rivers of the water. Not being moved no matter what comes our way.
1 Corinthians 16:13, Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong.
1 Peter 5:8-9 ISV, Be clear-minded and alert. Your opponent, the devil, is prowling around like a roaring lion, looking for someone to devour. Resist him and be firm in the faith, because you know that your brothers throughout the world are undergoing the same kinds of suffering.
When we resist the enemy, we are standing firm in Faith. We will not give in to what the world has to offer no matter how much we may suffer.
Philippians 1:27-28 ISV, The only thing that matters is that you continue to live as good citizens in a manner worthy of the gospel of the Messiah. Then, whether I come to see you or whether I stay away, I may hear all about you—that you are standing firm in one spirit, struggling with one mind for the faith of the gospel, and that you are not intimidated by your opponents in any way. This is evidence that they will be destroyed and that you will be saved—and all because of God.
We stand firm in the faith by not being afraid of anyone who may be an enemy. Those Who try and come against us for our faith in the Lord Jesus and won’t give up until we give in.
When these 4 main ingredients are added together and working in us, then Faith is alive in us. We see the results of faith in our lives working every day. We see it working on others. The following are the results of faith.
Faith produces healing
Mark 5:25-34, And a certain woman, which had an issue of blood twelve years, And had suffered many things of many physicians, and had spent all that she had, and was nothing bettered, but rather grew worse, When she had heard of Jesus, came in the press behind, and touched his garment. For she said, If I may touch but his clothes, I shall be whole. And straightway the fountain of her blood was dried up; and she felt in her body that she was healed of that plague. And Jesus, immediately knowing in himself that virtue had gone out of him, turned him about in the press, and said, Who touched my clothes? And his disciples said unto him, Thou seest the multitude thronging thee, and sayest thou, Who touched me? And he looked round about to see her that had done this thing. But the woman fearing and trembling, knowing what was done in her, came and fell down before him, and told him all the truth. And he said unto her, Daughter, thy faith hath made thee whole; go in peace, and be whole of thy plague.
Matthew 8:5-10, And when Jesus was entered into Capernaum, there came unto him a centurion, beseeching him, And saying, Lord, my servant lieth at home sick of the palsy, grievously tormented. And Jesus saith unto him, I will come and heal him. The centurion answered and said, Lord, I am not worthy that thou shouldest come under my roof: but speak the word only, and my servant shall be healed. For I am a man under authority, having soldiers under me: and I say to this man, Go, and he goeth; and to another, Come, and he cometh; and to my servant, Do this, and he doeth it. When Jesus heard it, he marvelled, and said to them that followed, Verily I say unto you, I have not found so great faith, no, not in Israel.
Faith produces righteousness
Romans 1:17, For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
Romans 3:20-22, Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin. But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets; Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
Galatians 3:11 ISV, Now it is obvious that no one is justified in the sight of God by the Law, because “The righteous will live by faith.”
Faith gets Answers
When faith is working in us we can receive answers, whether it be a question, or problem in our life, whether someone we know is going through something and we want to know what to do.
Matthew 21:21-22, Jesus answered and said unto them, Verily I say unto you, If ye have faith, and doubt not, ye shall not only do this which is done to the fig tree, but also if ye shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; it shall be done. And all things, whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer, believing, ye shall receive.
Mark 11:24, Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them.
James 1:5-7, If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him. But let him ask in faith, nothing wavering. For he that wavereth is like a wave of the sea driven with the wind and tossed. For let not that man think that he shall receive any thing of the Lord.
Faith brings salvation
When we use the faith formula and apply it to our lives and watch it work we will see the salvation of God.
Ephesians 2:8-9, For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast.
1 Peter 1:3-9, Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you, Who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time. Wherein ye greatly rejoice, though now for a season, if need be, ye are in heaviness through manifold temptations: That the trial of your faith, being much more precious than of gold that perisheth, though it be tried with fire, might be found unto praise and honour and glory at the appearing of Jesus Christ: Whom having not seen, ye love; in whom, though now ye see him not, yet believing, ye rejoice with joy unspeakable and full of glory: Receiving the end of your faith, even the salvation of your souls.
Examples of faith in the scriptures
Hebrews 11:7, By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
Hebrews 11:17-19, By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son, Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called: Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
Hebrews 11:30-31, By faith the walls of Jericho fell down, after they were compassed about seven days. By faith the harlot Rahab perished not with them that believed not, when she had received the spies with
